‘Glass Onion’ Director Confirms Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc Is Queer

The mystery of whether Daniel Craig’s southern posh detective Benoit Blanc is gay or not is finally solved.

Rian Johnson, the director, and writer of Knives Out and its highly anticipated sequel confirmed the rumors at the London Film Festival this past weekend. Though the first murder mystery film hinted that Blanc might have a male partner, nothing was ever confirmed on screen. But Johnson says that is all about to change with the next installment, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

When asked if Benoit Blanc is queer, Johnson replied, “Yes, he obviously is.”

Not only do we have confirmation of his sexuality, but we also get to meet him. Glass Onion will reportedly feature a scene introducing Blanc’s live-in partner to the audience. Finally! We don’t know who it is yet, but Craig and Johnson are excited for the audience to meet them.

“There’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with,” Johnson said. Meanwhile, Craig hinted that the actor is likely someone we will all recognize. “No spoilers [but] who wouldn’t want to live with that person?” Can someone do some clever sleuthing and get us answers on Blanc’s lover ASAP? The anticipation is killing me.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery follows tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) on a Greek island getaway. Bron invites his closest friends to accompany him but quickly discovers that this vacation is no paradise. Luckily, the dashing Benoit Blanc is there to crack the case.

The sequel follows the first Knives Out film, a major box office success that earned over $300 million against a $40 million budget. Only time will tell if this film can shatter Knives Out‘s record into a million pieces.

Though the actor playing Blanc’s love interest remains a mystery, the rest of the star-studded cast joining Craig is not. Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, and the fabulous Janelle Monáe are all set to play Bron’s interesting inner circle.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will hit theaters on November 23 before dropping on Netflix on December 23.
