Finally, BBC shares a glimpse of what Ncuti Gatwa will bring to the Doctor Who franchise.
The beloved British sci-fi show is coming back in 2023 with the first-ever Black Doctor Who, played by Sex Education and upcoming Barbie movie star Ncuti Gatwa. Earlier this year, the network confirmed Gatwa would be taking over the role from Jodie Whittaker, who has played the character since 2017.

See the Hot New Photos of Gatwa as Doctor Who
Though Gatwa’s season is still a year away, fans are eager for teasers and first looks of the 15th Doctor (and let’s face it, so are we). Luckily, BBC has given in to our requests and delivered new images of Gatwa in a stylish new Time Lord outfit. In addition to a mouth-watering photo of the actor in a brown patterned suit and orange sweater, BBC also revealed the Doctor’s new companion, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson).
“I genuinely feel I have an adrenaline hangover. But boy oh BOYY what we have in store for you,” Gatwa wrote on Instagram alongside a collection of photos and videos from the set. If you’re looking for an excuse to check out the back of Gatwa’s trousers, scroll to the video on the fourth slide.
“P.s that video is just an excuse to show off the fit of my trousers, tell me you wouldn’t do the same!”

What We Know About the Upcoming Season
Also joining the next season of Doctor Who is Uncoupled legend Neil Patrick Harris, who will reportedly play the villainous Toymaker. While speaking with Variety, Harris dished about working with Gatwa and what fans can expect from the 15th Doctor.
“I got to meet and interact with him a bit, and he’s glorious,” Harris recalled. “He’ll be the first gay Doctor, which is going to be super cool, a sexier Doctor.”
It sounds like a perfect season to us! And with Heartstopper trans actress Yasmin Finney starring as Rose in the upcoming 60th-anniversary special, there is much to be excited about.
Returning Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies confirmed that David Tennant will reprise his role as the Time Lord and Gatwa will become the character’s 15th iteration. However, this trailer for the three-episode anniversary special hints that there could be an epic crossover in our future.
