Britney Spears Says She’s Ready to Move On

The “Toxic” singer is focusing on moving on after getting out of her 13-year conservatorship.

Britney Spears took to Instagram to share a lengthy post about her family and what she’s looking forward to next year.

“Honestly my family embarrassed me and hurt me deeply,” Spears wrote. She noted “tooting my own horn and seeing my past accomplishments reflecting back at me actually helped” her overcome her insecurities. The pop icon seemingly referenced a recent Instagram post where she shared her accomplishments.

She went on, “So much wasted time to only embarrass me and humiliate me and I guess it seems odd to most now why I don’t even do my music anymore… that’s just the surface issues. People have no idea the awful things that were done to me personally…and after what I’ve been through, I’m scared of people and the business!”

Will Britney Spears perform music again?

She says taking control of her music is a way of taking power back from her family. “They really hurt me! Not doing my music anymore is my way of saying ‘Fuck You,’ in a sense when it only actually benefits my family by ignoring my real work.”

Spears then commented on her rigorous work schedule, where she worked nonstop for years without a break. “I wanted to be nice but what they did to my heart was unforgivable!” Spears wrote. “I asked for 13 years to perform new songs and remixes of my old songs. … I had two months off in between each show settings for four years in Vegas. … and every time I asked, I was told, ‘No’! It was a setup to make me fail, yet I knew exactly what I wanted my fans to see.”

Instead, she said the network television shows allowed her sister to perform her music. “They even gave remixes to my sister, but why was I always told no?,” Spears questioned.

Now that the conservatorship is over, she’s focused on moving forward! “Last year was growth for me…I still have a ways to go,” she claims. “My goal for this year is to push myself a bit more and do things that scare me.” Just last week, in a different Instagram post, she said new music is coming! Either way, we’re just glad Spears gets to decide for herself on what’s next.
