In the teaser, Cassandra faces impending death, whether her own or others’, with the power to change destiny. However, a perennial nemesis emerges in the form of Ezekiel Sims, played by Tahar Rahim. Despite his Spider-Man-like appearance, Sims deviates from the hero’s ethos. The synopsis hints at all four women possessing spider-like abilities, setting the stage for Sims’ relentless pursuit to eliminate them.

“Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” reads the synopsis. “Forced to confront revelations about her past, [Casandra] forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”

The film also stars Emma Roberts and Adam Scott and is directed by S.J. Clarkson (Life on Mars).
