Travis Chantar: “Through art, we celebrate and humanize each other.”
Travis Chantar is an artist. He specializes in photography, but he’s also an expert painter, skilled art director and incredibly talented stylist. His striking photography often features elegant models embellished with decorative body paint, gemstones or flowers.
“As we move toward a global society, there is great opportunity to celebrate each other through new, shared culture.”
At 31 years old, the LA-born Idaho-raised New York-transplant has created an extraordinary collection of art. “My interest centers around appreciating diversity and enriching societal narrative through artistic ritual,” he wrote on his website. “Decoration, particularly of the human body, holds powerful emotional and cultural significance, deepening our experience.”
He continued: “As a mixed-race, queer individual, I teeter on the outskirts of many cultures, looking on, observing patterns. Largely, tradition informs identity, and perspective is thoroughly rooted in social context. Rarely do we reconsider these confines, much less define our own.”
In celebration of Chantar’s creativity and dedication to his craft, here are 25 of our favorite pieces from Chantar’s “Flowers” collection.
