Timothée Chalamet makes chocolate, and Hugh Grant is a dancing Oompa Loompa in the new trailer for Wonka.

Warner Bros. has finally released the first trailer for the Willy Wonka origin film, and it’s certainly something we want to sink our teeth into.

Willy Wonka, the whimsical and eccentric chocolatier who founded the Wonka Chocolate Factory, is returning to the big screen once more. But this time, the world will discover how Wonka created his mad inventions and managed to befriend a group of musical oompa loompas. Here is the official logline for the film: “This irresistibly vivid and inventive big screen spectacle will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time—proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible.”

Pictures and videos of the Dune actor on the set of Wonka have been circling the internet for months. However, the official countdown is on! In the trailer, audiences will see Wonka as he attempts to bypass the strict chocolate cartel to create the chocolate factory of his dreams.

Oh, and did we mention Hugh Grant is an Oompa Loompa? Stick around until the end of the trailer for a special surprise.

Wonka, directed by Paul King (Paddington), also stars Olivia Coleman, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Matt Lucas, and Rowan Atkinson.

The film is set to float into theaters on December 15, 2023.
