Waylon Smithers Offers Dating Advice To Other Gay Men

FOX

Waylon Smithers has been a part of The Simpsons for as long as many fans can remember.

In a recent interview with Attitude, beloved cartoon character Waylon Smithers sat down and opened up about the moment he knew he was gay.

“Well, I remember watching A Streetcar Named Desire and being unbelievably attracted to the hunk on screen who had such powerful, raw sexual energy — Karl Malden, who plays Stanley’s friend,” Smithers recalled. “I’ve had a poster of him in my bedroom ever since.”

However, Malden didn’t reciprocate the love. “No matter how often you think about him, no matter how many love letters you send, it will never be requited,” Smithers added. “Because you will never be good enough for Karl Malden.”

A lot has happened to Smithers since coming out to his boss Mr. Burns in a 2016 episode. Thanks to several Simpsons-world dating apps, he has had several hookups but one failed romance. “I’ve been on all the apps – the U.S. Male Service, Coffee Meets Naegle, Scruffman, Lard Dads, No Strings-Field, and Krusty Burger Presents Tasty Gay Hookups,” Smithers explained. “I’ve met a lot of my best friends on KBPTGH, actually.”

He also offered advice to gay men who pine after straight men. “Maybe don’t spend two decades of your life pining after someone who will never love you back,” he said.

Fans can hopefully get to see more of Smithers’ latest love story unfold with boyfriend Michael De Graaf when a new episode of The Simpsons airs on Fox on Sunday, February 27.
