Addison Rose Vincent talks breaking the binary on the Pride podcast.
As humans, we put labels on everything we encounter because it helps us make sense of the world. In recent years, researchers have found that when we struggle to put something into a category, we like it less. But times are changing, and more people identify as non-binary.
Non-binary gender identity is any gender identity that does not fall within the strict categories of contemporary Western societies, which typically consider gender to be binary, e.g., either man or woman.
On a recent episode of the Pride podcast, host Levi Chambers chatted with transfeminine genderqueer activist Addison Rose Vincent about breaking the binary. In the episode, Vincent explained the difference between “sex” and “gender.” They also described what it’s like to live beyond the binary.
