Elle Fanning shines in Teen Spirit; proves she could be a pop star.

In the upcoming film Teen Spirit, which marks the directorial debut of actor Max Minghella (The Social Network, The Handmaid’s Tale), Elle Fanning portrays Violet, an ambitious yet shy singer who lives on a farm with her mom in England.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “Violet (Elle Fanning) is a shy teenager who dreams of escaping her small town and pursuing her passion for singing. With the help of an unlikely mentor, she enters a local singing competition that will test her integrity, talent and ambition. Driven by a pop-fueled soundtrack, Teen Spirit is a visceral and stylish spin on the Cinderella story.”

While Teen Spirit is enjoyable and dreamy film, its music drives the story. Throughout the gripping soundtrack, Fanning covers some of the hottest songs in pop music, including Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own,” Sigrid’s “Don’t Kill My Vibe,” and Ellie Goulding’s “Lights.” In addition to Fanning’s vocals, Teen Spirit also features hits by Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani and DJ Snake, which makes it a must-see movie for pop music loves.

Produced by Jack Antonoff, the soundtrack includes an original song co-written by Carly Rae Jepsen called “Wildflowers”, which is destined to be on your playlist.

Teen Spirit hits select theaters on April 12 and everywhere April 19.
