For the 33-year-old, writing this memoir was about more than selling a self-indulgent story of stardom. To him, it was about the human condition. Haynes says, “even if you aren’t a fan or know much about me, I really think there are a lot of things in the book that you guys can relate to.”

What is Colton Haynes’ Book “Miss Memory Lane” About?

Shortly into his Instagram live, Haynes emotionally describes this project as a love letter to his mother. Haynes’s mother passed away in 2018 after an ongoing battle with advanced liver cirrhosis.

While struggling with loss and his divorce from celebrity florist Jeff Leatham, Haynes found himself unable to manage his decade-long addictions. The result was in an involuntary psychiatric hold.

In “Miss Memory Lane” Haynes candidly documents the private struggles that attributed to his sobriety and a renewed sense of self.

Simon and Schuster, the book’s publisher, describe the work as “a lyrical and intimate confession, apology, and cautionary tale. An unforgettable story of dreams deferred and dreams fulfilled; of a family torn apart and rebuilt.”

In his review, Sir Elton John said, “‘Miss Memory Lane’ is a brutally honest memoir that socks you in the gut with candor.” He continued “Colton Haynes is a true survivor and shows us how conquering our demons in life is a never-ending journey.”

“Miss Memory Lane” is available for pre-order now and will hit shelves on Tuesday, May 31.
