In celebration of its 10-year relationship with PRODUCT(RED), Apple announced the release of a special edition red iPhone. The product will help fight HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa, which is home to more than 60 percent of the world’s HIV-positive population.
“Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

According to Apple, 100 percent of all the funds generated by (RED) goes directly to The Global Fund, an organization that provides HIV/AIDS testing, treatment, counseling, and prevention programs. Since its inception in 2006, (RED) has raised more than $465 million for the Global Fund and Apple alone contributed more than $130 million.
