Greg Louganis just turned 56 this year, and his body looks phenomenal. How do we know? Well, the openly gay Olympian took it all off for ESPN‘s infamous “Body” issue.

Louganis told ESPN, “When I look around at my contemporaries — I’d say I’m probably in better shape than most of them. It’s all about making healthy choices.”

In 1988, Louganis was diagnosed with HIV, which skyrocketed him into the public eye. “HIV taught me that I’m a lot stronger than I ever believed I was,” he says. “Also, not to take anything for granted. I didn’t think I would see 30, and here I am at 56.”

The ESPN “Body” issue hits stands on July 8.
