Ken is having a crisis, so of course he has to sing about it.
Ryan Gosling’s Ken is feeling lost in a new Barbie music video from Warner Bros. Pictures.
“Doesn’t seem to matter what I do. I’m always number two,” a shirtless Ken belts out, looking up at the night sky from his Dreamhouse in Barbieland.
“‘Cause I’m just Ken. Anywhere else I’d be a ten. Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blonde fragility?” he continues.
Based on the short clip, it’s obvious Barbie is not the only one looking for answers from the Universe. It’s always Barbie and Ken, can there be just Ken?
The Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird), has been exciting audiences since the first clip dropped of Margot Robbie’s perfectly lifted foot stepping out of her pink plastic high heel. Weeks away from the film’s release, we still know very little about the plot. We know Barbie is on a journey to the Real World, where she meets a crazed toy CEO (Will Ferrell) and a Martell worker (America Ferrera). We also know Ken hides in her pink convertible and comes along for the ride.
“I’m just Ken and I’m enough. And I’m great at doing stuff,” continues the lyrics in the video.
Early reviews of the film also applaud Gosling’s performance and call it his “best film yet.”
Barbie will hit theaters on July 21.
