Ezra Miller Breaks Their Silence, Attends ‘The Flash’ Premiere

Ezra Miller made a shocking appearance at the premiere of their DC film, The Flash, following the string of allegations made against them since the Iceland incident in 2020.

In their first appearance in almost two years, Ezra Miller walked the red carpet at the highly-anticipated release of The Flash, a new superhero movie based on the DC Comics character. Miller plays the protagonist Barry Allen, aka The Flash. The film’s official synopsis reads, “Worlds collide when the Flash uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. However, when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, he becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation. With no other superheroes to turn to, the Flash looks to coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian — albeit not the one he’s looking for.”

Though audiences have been sharing mixed feelings about seeing the film and supporting the actor following the allegations, early critics were referring to it as the “best superhero film of all time.” Still, it currently only holds a critics score of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Miller Walks the Red Carpet

The Flash, which hit theaters on June 14, held a premiere in Los Angeles earlier this week. Miller walked the carpet in a white blazer with black lightning details and a high bun. They took the stage before the premiere and began their speech with a shoutout to director Andy Muschietti.

“I love you maestro, I think you’re amazing,” they said. “Your work is nothing short of monumental.”

Miller went on to thank the entire team who made this film possible, including Warner Bros Discovery chief executive, David Zaslav, the film group’s chairman, Michael De Luca, and MGM group president, Pam Abdy, and Justice League director Zack Snyder. They also thanked DC bosses Peter Safran and James Gunn for their “grace and discernment and care in the context of my life and bringing this moment to fruition”. Finally, Miller gave some love to their “irresistible dream cast and the thousands of artists and workers who made this movie, everybody who supported us, in our lives and in the world and everybody who supported me, in my life, and in the world, along this trying and very beautiful peregrination.”

Addressing the Allegations

Miller’s charges include felony burglary, harassment and disorderly conduct, as well as accusations of “grooming”, and a guilty plea for trespassing. They released a statement to Variety in August 2022 addressing the allegations and their plan to treat their complex mental health issues.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller wrote. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

Although there has been debate by fans on whether or not Miller should continue to play The Flash due to the ongoing allegations, the DC team is standing firmly behind the actor.

Muschietti told The Discourse podcast that he does not plan to do a sequel without Miller. “I don’t think there’s anyone [who] can play that character as well as they did.”

The Flash is now playing in theaters.
