Luke Evans has gone public with his relationship with Rafa Olarra.
Before we grab our torch and pitchforks, let’s take a moment to breathe and accept that the dream of casually bumping into Luke Evans in the fruit and vegetable isle, connecting on a shared love of kiwis, and eventually sweeping him off his feet with your effortless charm and wit was probably a pipe dream.
On Saturday, the Beauty and the Beast actor, shared a short-but-sweet clip of him and a handsome fellow sharing a laugh during a trip to Hawaii.

Evans is not exactly the most public person, but he has been out of the closet for years. He is part of a short list of openly gay male actors who regularly plays straight characters in blockbuster movies. Evans has been stealing our hearts with performances like everyone’s favorite self-absorbed hunter, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, and sharp-shooter to our hearts, Bard in The Hobbit. It’s hardly surprising that he would find a partner sooner or later.

The discerning follower would notice that this isn’t the first time Olarra has popped up on Evans’ feed. Back in January, the actor shared a photo of himself coaching Olarra on a run, as well as a shot of them posing with friends on a boat during a New Year’s trip to Miami.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I dug even a little deeper, for the sake of journalism of course, to find even more photos of the pair on Olarra’s feed. It seems the couple have been an item for some time now. A post that dates back to October 30 of last year depicts the two on a morning bike ride in Miami.
Now that we’ve all gotten over our initial bout of envy, let’s take a moment to celebrate an actor who can be out and proud about his relationship, in an industry that can make or break you on any given day.
“I never tried to hide,” Evans told The Advocate in 2002. “I knew I was going to have to do interviews with gay magazines; I knew this was going to happen. So I thought, Well, I’m going to have to be open”
