Kristen Stewart is blasting into a whole new dimension in the upcoming sci-fi romance Love Me. The first trailer has arrived, and trust us, you’ve never seen anything like this before.
Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun’s Unlikely Romance
In Love Me, Stewart plays a literal ocean buoy (yes, really), while Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) portrays a satellite orbiting Earth. These two unlikely AIs connect online and, against all cosmic odds, fall in love.
Love Me’s Post-Human World
Set in a future where humans have long since disappeared, this quirky love story spans billions of years. Stewart and Yeun’s characters dive into YouTube lifestyle content to imitate human behavior. The result? They discover the joys and struggles of love—and what it means to truly live.
The official synopsis teases: “Long after humanity’s extinction, a buoy (Stewart) and a satellite (Yeun) inherit the Earth, and with only the internet as their guide, learn what it means to be alive and in love.”

Sam and Andy Zuchero’s Vision for Love Me
Directors Sam and Andy Zuchero describe the film as an epic love story wrapped in existential whimsy. “We wanted to make a movie that would make you feel big and small at the same time,” they told People. “It’s the story of two completely new beings—the AI in two machines—who evolve into virtual avatars and then into flesh-and-blood humans.”
Animation, Live Action, and AI Romance in Love Me
The film combines animation, live action, animatronics, and game engine technology to tell what’s being dubbed “the longest-spanning love story ever told.” It’s also a refreshing departure from Stewart’s other upcoming projects, including her intense directorial debut The Chronology of Water and her first TV role as queer icon Sally Ride in The Challenger.
A Love Story Worth the Wait
Steven Yeun’s recent roles have shown his range for unique, emotional storytelling. Kristen Stewart continues to lean into bold, experimental narratives. Their chemistry in Love Me looks like it’s going to pull at every heartstring—digital or otherwise.
Get ready to cry over robots in love when Love Me hits theaters on January 31, 2025. Can AIs craft better love stories than humans? Only time—and Kristen Stewart—will tell.
