Beer conglomerate Anheuser-Busch is under fire for collaborating with TikToker Dylan Mulvaney to promote their March Madness contest.

In true Dylan Mulvaney fashion, the trans actress, singer and TikTok star shared a video dressed like Audrey Hepburn to announce her next partnership. “I got some Bud Lights for us,” she says at the start of the video after setting down several cans of beer. She then showed off the amazing gift the company sent her – a can of beer with her face on it – and told her followers how they could enter Bud Light’s March Madness contest.

Mulvaney is a popular LGBTQIA+ influencer with nearly 2 million followers on Instagram and over 10 million followers on TikTok. She rose to fame for her “Days of Girlhood” series and recently celebrated her 365th day of being a girl with a special cabaret show in New York City’s Rainbow Room.

Although the video has reached millions of viewers and amassed over 130 thousand likes, the comment section is a black hole flooded with angry bigots. Not only are the transphobes determined to get everyone to boycott the beer, but they also dropped hateful messages towards Mulvaney for proudly living her truth.

The Bud Light Boycott

Singer/songwriter Kid Rock went as far as purchasing several cases of Bud Light to film himself crying and destroying them with an assault rifle while wearing a MAGA hat.

“F**k Bud Light, and f**k Anheuser-Busch,” he said while flipping off the camera. The video has over 10 million views on Twitter.

Travis Tritt also made a public statement against the brand and said he will be removing all Anheuser-Busch products from his dressing room. “I will be deleting all Anheuser-Busch products from my tour hospitality rider,” he warned. “I know many other artists who are doing the same.”

Unbeknownst to them, Bud Light has been a proud sponsor of LGBTQ+ rights for decades. They have supported several Pride events and hosted a fundraising drive to help raise money for the LGBTQ+ charity, GLAAD, in 2019. The beer company issued a statement in response to the backlash, standing by their decision to work with Mulvaney.

“Anheuser-Busch works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics. From time to time we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public.”

And to those beer enthusiasts who are planning to switch from Bud to Coors Light, they also have a history of supporting Pride events. Just so you know.

We love you, Dylan!
