If you didn’t know, Jud McMillin is the Indiana House Majority Leader and a sponsor of the state’s “religious freedom” law. He’s a well-liked guy, among conservative Hoosiers, and the star of an explicit video.

Yesterday, McMillin resigned suddenly after a text message from McMillin’s phone showed the representative fooling around with a random woman.

The antigay Indiana representative released an official statement and claims the “time is right for me to pass the torch and spend more time with my family.” He could start by spending time with his wife — just a thought.

In response to the video, he said, “My phone was stolen in Canada and out of my control for about 24 hours. I have just been able to reactivate it under my control. Please disregard any messages you received recently. I am truly sorry for anything offensive you may have received.”

On his website, McMillin assures he “will protect the integrity of the institution of marriage. In southeastern Indiana the family has always been the foundation of our strength of community. Our relationships with our wives, husbands, parents, children, siblings and other loved ones provides the glue that binds our common purpose. In these times of turmoil the rest of the country could learn something from our example.”

Maybe he thinks extramarital affairs are part of the “foundation of our strength of community.” Silly man.
