WARNING: House of the Dragon spoilers ahead!
Hold onto your dragon scales, House of the Dragon fans! The latest episode has set the internet ablaze with a surprising and steamy moment that finally brings the sexual tension we’ve been craving.
Episode six of the Game of Thrones prequel premiered on July 21, continuing the season-long storyline of Sonoya Mizuno’s character, Mysaria. Known previously as the White Worm, Mysaria has transformed into Rhaenyra’s trusted advisor, confidante, and strategist. The bond between Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Mysaria deepens as they open up, culminating in a chemistry-filled kiss that changes everything.
The Unscripted Smooch
This passionate kiss wasn’t in the original script! D’Arcy actually suggested the intimate twist. “It wasn’t scripted as a kiss. I think it was scripted as… there’s just breath between them or something, and then whatever happens is interrupted,” Mizuno revealed to TheWrap. The spontaneous idea came from D’Arcy and was approved by showrunner Ryan Condal.
“Because we were separate in the room … [and] Mysaria has told this story, [D’Arcy] felt the instinct to hold her, to comfort her,” Mizuno explained. “From that, it felt so organic to go into the kiss.”
In an interview with Variety, D’Arcy elaborated, “Initially, there’s huge feelings of empathy and gratitude toward this person. Rhaenyra is hugely affected by the life that Mysaria has lived so bravely. Then, they are two bodies completely overrun by touch. As soon as they embrace and their bodies are touching, I think it’s pure bodily desire.”
What Comes Next
The kiss, however, complicates things. Rhaenyra is still married to Daemon (who is also her uncle, yikes), and Mysaria has a complicated past with Daemon, involving both sexual and political schemes. This steamy scene raises plenty of ‘what ifs’ about the characters’ future dynamics, especially with the Targaryens embroiled in the Dance of the Dragons civil war.
With only two episodes left this season, fans are excited about what will happen next. The fiery chemistry between Rhaenyra and Mysaria has added a thrilling new layer to the show, making it a must-watch.
So, if you still need to catch up, now’s the time! House of the Dragon is streaming on Max, ready to set your screens on fire with drama and desire.
