Lightning Strikes Twice in the Long-Awaited Sequel
It’s finally happening! After more than two decades, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back for another body-swapping adventure in Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated sequel to Disney’s 2003 classic, Freaky Friday. The first teaser trailer dropped on March 14, sending nostalgic fans into a frenzy. And in a perfect twist, the trailer is set to the music of pop sensation Chappell Roan, making it all the more iconic.
Where Are They Now?
Directed by Nisha Ganatra, Freakier Friday picks up years after Tess Coleman (Curtis) and Anna Coleman (Lohan) endured their unforgettable identity crisis. But this time, the chaos isn’t just between mother and daughter—Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As their blended family faces the inevitable growing pains, Tess and Anna realize that the universe might just have another body-swapping lesson in store for them.

After years of speculation, Disney confirmed the sequel was in production last June. Lohan and Curtis have both expressed their excitement about revisiting their iconic roles. In an emotional Instagram post on August 19, Lohan reflected on wrapping production: “It’s our last Monday on the set of #FreakierFriday and my heart is so full. The wonderful cast, crew, and everyone from @disneystudios have invested so much time and love into making this movie!”
Curtis also shared her enthusiasm, calling Lohan her “dear friend” and praising their experience on set together.
Is That Chad Michael Murray?
In addition to Lohan and Curtis, Freakier Friday is bringing back several familiar faces from the original film, including heartthrob Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
But the sequel also introduces fresh faces to the chaos. The new additions include Vanessa Bayer, Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons. And in a fun twist, Lohan revealed that Jacinto, known for The Good Place, will play her husband in the film.
If the sneak peek is any indication, this sequel is bringing all the camp, chaos, and comedy we could ask for.
