NYPD Releases Photos of 3 Men Suspected of Attack After Gay Slurs

NYPD released photos of three men who are allegedly responsible for breaking a man’s leg at a gay bar. The incident happened on July 17 around 4:00 a.m. at the corner of 50th Street and Ninth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen.

The victim and his friend, both 25 years old, were leaving the gay bar Vodka Soda when the argument started. The dispute escalated and became violent; the victims were hospitalized.

The suspects followed them down the street to the place where the altercation started. They started punching, kicking and stomping on the victims and then fled the scene. The victims had to hail a cab to the hospital where one was treated with a broken leg and the other for cuts and bruises.

The victim told police that the three assailants followed them when they started shouting homophobic slurs in Spanish. It is still not confirmed whether police are investigating it as a hate crime.

According to the surveillance photos, one of the suspects wore glasses, a white t-shirt, and jeans with a chinstrap beard. Another donned a white t-shirt with black pants and sneakers, and the third was seen shirtless with a goatee, a white t-shirt slung over his shoulder wearing tan cargo shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782), or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
