We finally have the trailer for the upcoming Charmed reboot and we’re so ready for it.

The CW dropped a preview of the enchanting new Charmed reboot, which immediately sets itself apart from The WB original. In the trailer, we follow two sisters as they discover their magical heritage and that they have an older sister (who they had no idea existed).

Melanie “Mel” Vera (Melonie Diaz), Maggie (Sarah Jeffrey), and Macy (Madeleine Mantock) are the three new spellcasting sisters in the CW’s reboot of the original. The show begins with Mel and Maggie as college students living with their loving mother, Marisol. But then, a devastating tragedy shatters their world; Marisol dies and their long-lost sister, Macy, suddenly appears.

With their new lives, come the emergence of magical powers and responsibility they can’t ignore; they’re the Charmed Ones, and they must defend the world from the demons that walk among us.

Nothing is stronger than the sisterhood. Charmed is coming Sundays this fall to The CW!

Here’s the CW’s official new description for the new incarnation of Charmed:

“This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”

“It’s a lot to take in, but ultimately the sisters accept their new destiny as The Charmed Ones … and their new duty to protect humankind from the demons that walk among us …one of whom killed their mother,” the network teased in a press release. “With the Power of Three, they are stronger together … even if they have no idea what they’re really up against.”

During an appearance at the CW Upfront presentation on Thursday, CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed new details about the show. News of the planned Charmed revival was first announced in January, and Pedowitz stated today that the show will be different from the original.

In a statement to the press, Pedowitz expressed hope that fans of the series would give the new version a chance, saying: “It is not quite the same, yet there are many similarities. Hopefully, they’ll give it a shot. We are happy with who we cast, we think it’s a nice mix. We’re thrilled that Jennie Snyder Urman has reimagined it somewhat and I can only say to fans: Before you make a decision, watch the series.”

While the show seems promising, the original cast isn’t overly excited about the reboot. Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty have spoken out against the idea, especially given the rumors that it would be a “feminist” reboot — insinuating that the original wasn’t already feminism-focused.

Although it’s unclear when it will premiere, but the CW says it’ll be sometime this fall and Charmed will air on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on the CW.
