Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow score bronze medals at the Diving World Series in Beijing, China.

Divers Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow placed third Diving World Series in Beijing for their performance in the 10-meter synchronized pairs event. The duo nearly took home silver medals, but Ukraine’s Oleksandr Gorshkovozov and Maksym Dolgov delivered an excellent dive.

China’s Chen Aisen and Yang Hao led the athletes and scored the gold medal with a score of 484.29.

Daley celebrated their achievement on Instagram saying, “Very happy to come away with a bronze medal in the 10m synchro.” The 23-year-old Olympic diver will compete in the 3-meter mixed dive on Saturday, and then the individual on Sunday.

Recently, Daley announced that he and husband Dustin Lance Black would welcome their first child later this year. The couple announced the news on social media on Valentine’s Day. They each posted a photo of themselves holding an ultrasound scan of the unborn baby, and earlier this week shared the child’s sex.

“We’re gonna have a little boy,” Daley told Fearne Cotton on her podcast, Happy Place.

Daley also explained their decision to use a surrogate mother. “When people judge about us using a surrogate, lots of people in this world can’t have kids, wherever it’s due to fertility issues or health issues, whatever it may be, I don’t think there would be as much drama if it were a straight couple,” he said.

“I think especially with Kim Kardashian people almost felt sorry for her that she’s not able to have a child because of health reasons, how lovely it is that a surrogate has been willing to do that,” Daley continued.

“But for every other gay couple that isn’t able to have a child but desperately would love to bring up a child, just like any heterosexual couple, we have been treated quite differently.”
