If you enjoy survivalist shows and haven’t seen NBC’s Running Wild with Bear Grylls, you’re missing out. According to its YouTube channel, the show follows “famed adventurer, writer and television host Bear Grylls [who takes] eight entertainment and sports stars into the most remote and pristine locations in the U.S. and around the world for a 48-hour journey of a lifetime.”
In a nutshell, the show transplants celebs into extremely uncomfortable places and then forces them to rough it, and the results are always epic. “The eight accomplished actors and athletes partner with Grylls for two days for a one-on-one adventure they will never forget.” In the most recent episode, Grylls took pop superstar Nick Jonas on a journey through the Sierra Nevada Mountains, which included swimming in a frozen lake and dining on bird guts.
In the clip, “My toes are freezing — It’s crazy what happens to your body, the instincts that kick in. You just have to go, push yourself.” Jonas spent nearly three minutes in the freezing water and had trouble regaining his circulation, so Grylls warmed Jonas’ feet with his armpit.
