Celebrity Apprentice star Arnold Schwarzenegger, 65, recently opened up in an interview with Xposure about his childhood. He stated that after hanging pictures of male bodybuilders in his room, his father and mother thought he was gay.
“[My father] ran after me with a belt and beat me,” he said. “I don’t know if mom thought I was gay, or if she just thought there was something off and thought ‘let’s catch it early.’ She asked the doctor, ‘Can you help me? I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my son because his wall is full of naked men. All of Arnold’s friends have pictures of girls above their bed. And Arnold has no girls.’”
In the cult documentary Pumping Iron, the former terminator is as coy as ever when it comes to homoeroticism, and as a politician, he proved to be just as coy.
Even though he signed in the repeal of a “gay cure” initiative, he vetoed same-sex marriage in California, which made him hugely unpopular and prompted a revolution. While it’s safe to say he’s an undercover LGBT ally, it’s evident he coddles his constituency a little too often (like all politicians do).
To be fair, Schwarzenegger called on fellow Republicans to evolve their views or risk losing support, reported Pink News.
Recently, he shocked the nation after paying tens of thousands of dollars to his mistress, who also happened to be his housekeeper and the mother of his 15-year-old son Joseph (who looks exactly like him, by the way). Well,Schwarzenegger might not be gay, but, in regards to bodybuilding, he has become somewhat of a gay icon.
